The broadcast of multi-channel pay TV delivers dedicated programming across a spectrum of genres including entertainment, sports and news. SKY Perfect JSAT’s communications satellites are the infrastructure that makes the transmission of such broadcasts possible. In addition to “SKY PerfecTV!” CS digital broadcasts and “SKY PerfecTV! ｅ２ ” 110°-longitude CS digital broadcasts, our presence in broadcasting has expanded to include services such as MUSIC BIRD, a CS satellite-based music broadcast service, and a community channel for foreign residents in Japan.

Terrestrial　broadcasters across Japan, moreover, use communications satellites to transmit raw programming video data. SNG (Satellite News Gathering), which delivers domestic and international news in real time, live transmission of election news flashes from multiple sources, and live sports coverage are among the televised events for which our communications satellites have an indispensable presence.

Having no cables on the ground, satellite-based communications networks are not interrupted during times of disaster. This attribute has led to the use of SKY Perfect JSAT’s satellite communications services by regional governments across Japan, as well as by many companies involved in social infrastructure such as electric power, gas and petroleum, where supply stability is a constant demand. Whether serving as backup connections to key bases, or as back doors to main circuits for monitoring and control systems and mobile phone networks in the event of disaster, communications satellites support efforts to make daily life safer and more secure.
